Why make your own curtains?

Making your own curtains can be both fun and rewarding. Not only can you save money, but you also have complete control over the design, fabric and fit. Making your own curtains gives a personal touch to your interior and you can be proud of your own handiwork.

Supplies and materials to get started.

Before you start, make sure you have all the essential materials on hand:

High-quality curtain fabrics

A reliable measuring tape

Sewing machine, thread and needles

Ironing board and iron for finishing touches

Step 1: Measuring the windows and determining the fabric quantity.

Start by carefully measuring your windows to determine how much fabric you need. Make sure you have some extra fabric for the hems and any mistakes.

Step 2: Choosing the right fabric and matching haberdashery.

The choice of fabric is crucial. Consider the thickness, transparency and pattern of the fabric. Don't forget to choose matching haberdashery such as rings or hooks that match your fabric and your interior.

Step 3: Cutting and preparing the fabric Panels.

Once you've chosen the fabric, cut the panels to the correct dimensions. Make sure you cut accurately and prepare the panels by applying seams and hem strips where necessary.

Step 4: Assembling the panels into complete curtains.

Using your sewing machine, sew the panels together and attach the hanging system to the top of the curtains.
